Tinder has announced a sweeping set of updates at its inaugural product keynote, Tinder Sparks 2026: Start Something New, introducing AI-powered matching, new social formats, live events, and enhanced safety tools aimed at helping users spark more authentic connections.
Expanding social modes
Tinder is rolling out redesigned and new Global Modes to give users fresh ways to connect. Music Mode, first launched in 2021, has been redesigned to prioritize profiles with shared music tastes, while Astrology Mode now allows users to add birth details to unlock zodiac compatibility insights. Early testing showed a 20% increase in Likes sent by women on astrology-based profiles.
The app is piloting Events in Los Angeles, enabling users to discover local activities like trivia nights or pottery classes and see which singles plan to attend. Tinder is also preparing to launch video speed dating, offering verified users three-minute live video chats with potential matches.
Tinder continues to expand its Face Check feature globally and has upgraded its AI-powered safety tools. The “Are You Sure?” prompt now better detects harmful language before messages are sent, while “Does This Bother You?” has been enhanced with auto-blur to hide potentially disrespectful content, giving users more control.
The centerpiece of the keynote was Chemistry, Tinder’s AI-curated recommendation system designed to cut through dating fatigue by offering daily personalized matches. Complementary features include Camera Roll Scan, which analyzes photo patterns to highlight personality traits, and Learning Mode, which tailors recommendations in real time based on user activity.
Tinder is redesigning profiles to feel more personal and expressive. Tinder Connect introduces new partnerships with Duolingo and Beli, alongside Spotify, allowing users to showcase interests in language learning and food. Upcoming features like Visual Interests and Photo Enhance will help users present a clearer, more authentic version of themselves.
“With more than half our users under 30, we’re building alongside a generation that wants dating to feel more authentic, lower-pressure, and worth their time,” said Spencer Rascoff, Match Group and Tinder CEO. “We’re using AI to surface more relevant connections, and continuing to raise the bar on safety so that people feel confident taking the next step.”
